Technology Has Never Been Easier...

Network Services and Design

A local area network (LAN) is a group of computers and devices that share the resources of a single processor or server within a small geographic area (say, within a single office building).

The server will normally store applications and data that are shared by multiple computer users.

A local area network may serve as few as two or three users (as in a home or SoHo network) or as many as thousands of users. The common factor is that it is located in one building.

A wide area network (WAN) is a group of computing devices located remotely in an unlimited area and connected via some electronic means, i.e. telephone system, satellite link, in what is a virtual private network (VPN).

This network may be across town, between cities or between continents. Generally, the network consists of one or more lans, with servers for file and print applications, workstations for end users and printers for documents.

All of these resources are normally physically connected locally via some form of cable (such as coaxial or twisted pair cabling) to a distribution hub and/or router connected to an outside transmission medium.

The purpose of a wan is to allow an organisation to share data and hardware throughout all locations to maximise the company's return on their investment.

Voice over IP or VOIP allows you to use your existing data devices plus the internet to transfer voice traffic as well as data. Voice over IP can be carried over existing data networks, through the internet, over leased lines and the potential cost savings are enormous. As there are usually pre-existing data transfer methods and the investment in new equipment can be minimal, Voice over IP can mean free telephone calls even internationally.

It seems sense to reduce the cost of desktop computing in some new network installations. Utilising a Server-Based Computing Solution can deliver critical business applications to end-user devices through the use of Thin Client technology where 100% of the applications and data reside and execute on the server.

We provide technical consultancy services to help you make decisions based on an informed and focused technical analysis.

TTS consultants listen carefully to their clients so that they understand not only the technical issues but also their business context. Our services have been designed to match the needs of our clients and their particular technology issues.

We will design and install your network to our own exacting standards and ensure that the end product justifies your investment and is suitable for the work it is required to do. If you require us to we will work with your existing software contractor to ensure a smooth transition of your applications from the old systems to the new.
